PORA WHAT DOES PORA DO FOR ME? WHY SHOULD I JOIN? 1. Formed Plantation Oaks Residents Association in 2000 to create a legal entity per Florida Statue 723, to negotiate of behalf of the homeowners. Without PORA homeowners would need to get 50%+1 of all affected homeowners each time there is a need to speak to the owners/management on issues that may arise. 2. Works with owners and management on behalf of all residents and monitors homeowners’ rent increases, market rents and community maintenance. 3. Maintains a PORA website for communication and easy access to social events. 4. Assist in the identification of areas of improvements for our residents. 5. Retains legal counsel to protect homeowners. 6. Provides social events for residents at reasonable cost to residents. 7. Provides free monthly coffee and doughnuts with educational speakers. 8. Purchase equipment for the clubhouse. 9. Purchase games for residents’ use. 10. Purchased first aid kits for clubhouse. 11. Maintains and purchases supplies for AED for residents’ safety. 12. Set up food safety handling classes for plantation cooks and servers. 13. Develop and invite speakers to discuss pertinent safety and security topics. 14. Works with management to improve the safety and security for the community. 15. We organize committees like the cooks, social and safety. Pora is the financial backbone required to spend money to have events. 16. If you have a difficult problem, we will try to help you resolve it with the Plantation Oaks management. 17. Helps fund the free ice cream socials. 18.
